WHO WE ARE
Strata-sphere Condominium Services Inc. is company designed to provide Strata Corporations, Property Managers, Lawyers and many others education regarding stratas, bylaws and other relevant news to the Condominium Services industry. Additionally, we provide up to date and relevant industry news with the “Voice from the Strata-sphere.” newsletter and an opportunity for you to learn more about bylaws with the “Strata Property Act – A Practical Guide to Bylaws.”
It is important to note that Strata-sphere Condominium Services Inc. is not in the business of providing legal advice. If you or your Strata Corporation are seeking advice, we suggest contacting the Condominium Home Owners Association of British Columbia (CHOA) or a qualified strata lawyer.
WHAT WE DO
Ms Wilson and her team at Stratasphere Condominium Services Inc. publish a newsletter, typically on an annual basis, “Voice from the Strata-sphere.” This newsletter has been in publication since 1998 and has covered issues ranging from leaky condos, property management, bylaws, consumer protection, and much more. Past issues of the newsletter can be found here.
In conjunction with Antonio Gioventu, Executive Director of the Condominium Home Owners Association of British Columbia (CHOA), Ms Wilson co-writes and publishes the “Strata Property Act – A Practical Guide to Bylaws.” This publication is a comprehensive guide, specifically designed for the average strata council member. The guide provides a step-by-step, do-it-yourself format for the preparation of most condominium associations’ bylaws. This does not obviate the need for a review of bylaws by a qualified strata lawyer.
The guide includes:
· A step-by-step process outlined in the beginning of the package.
o This ensures that the strata corporation, usually comprised of lay people, directs its mind to every major issue which needs to be addressed.
· The steps include a description of what should be done at every stage of the bylaw process, including:
o how to deal with unit owners;
o how to undertake the bylaw review process;
o how to amend bylaws;
o how to repeal bylaws;
o how to draft bylaws;
o how to deal with the presentation of bylaws at a general meeting; and,
o how to register bylaws.
The guide is user friendly and structured to direct non-lawyers on how to properly address bylaws. The instructions are written in lay people terms.
The package provides a review of every provision of the Standard Bylaws to the Strata Property Act, including a recommendation on what to do with the bylaw.
Taking into account the recent Strata Property Act bylaw amendments, the “Strata Property Act – A Practical Guide to Bylaws” is now available in the updated 2010 Edition.

Strata-sphere Condominium Services Inc. was established by Cora Wilson, principle owner of CD Wilson Law Corporation, a Nanaimo law office, which has a preferred area interest in Strata, Condominium & Real Estate Development Law. (www.cdwilson.bc.ca)
In the early 1990s, Ms Wilson was surprised to discover that there was a severe shortage of information on condominiums in British Columbia, both in terms of educational seminars and written articles. Strata Corporations, Property Managers, Lawyers and many others require education, support and direction on condominium issues more than ever. With an active housing market, full of development projects, many people are seeing a rise in strata corporations. Additionally, the British Columbia Strata Property Act (the “Act”) is becoming more sophisticated and current, having seen amendments to the Act in November & December, 2009. (For information on these amendments, please refer to: http://www.leg.bc.ca/38th5th/1st_read/gov12-1.htm)
Ms Wilson gave seminars at Vancouver Island University, in Nanaimo on strata issues from 1995 – 2002. Furthermore, she is a regular lecturer for numerous professional organizations such as the Condominium Home Owners' Association of British Columbia, the Real Estate Board, and other groups. Her enthusiasm and commitment to education resulted in her being invited to speak in other venues, such as radio talk shows in several cities.
