STRATA PROPERTY ACT
A PRACTICAL GUIDE TO BYLAWS
In conjunction with Antonio Gioventu, Executive Director of the Condominium Home Owners Association of British Columbia (CHOA), Ms Wilson co-writes and publishes the “Strata Property Act – A Practical Guide to Bylaws.” This publication is a comprehensive guide, specifically designed for the average strata council member. The guide provides a Step-by-step, do-it-yourself format for the preparation of most condominium associations’ bylaws.
The guide includes:
· A step-by-step process outlined in the beginning of the package.
o This ensures that the strata corporation, usually comprised of lay people, directs its mind to every major issue which needs to be addressed.
· The steps include a description of what should be done at every stage of the bylaw process, including:
o how to deal with unit owners;
o how to undertake the bylaw review process;
o how to amend bylaws;
o how to repeal bylaws;
o how to draft bylaws;
o how to deal with the presentation of bylaws at a general meeting; and,
o how to register bylaws.
The guide is user friendly and structured to direct non-lawyers on how to properly address bylaws. The instructions are written in lay people terms.
The package provides a review of every provision of the Standard Bylaws to the Strata Property Act, including a recommendation on what to do with the bylaw.
Taking into account the recent Strata Property Act bylaw amendments, the “Strata Property Act – A Practical Guide to Bylaws” is now available in the updated 2010 Edition.
